Coastal Setting & Historical Interest

Cala Blanca, also known as Es Castellot, is a small, rocky cove located alongside the resort village of Costa de la Calma. The beach takes its name from the nearby Es Castellot watchtower, an impressive 18th-century defensive fortress built from local marès sandstone. Although still privately owned and closed to visitors, the tower's exterior façade and original cannons remain visible from certain vantage points along the coast.

Surrounding the cove are low rocky formations and several large tourist buildings, giving a mixture of natural and urban scenery, though the beach itself retains a quiet, less frequented atmosphere compared to the nearby resort beaches.

Beach Characteristics

The beach consists primarily of pebbles and gravel, with only limited sandy areas. The clear, shallow waters attract a few swimmers, but its stony nature makes it better suited for sunbathing on the rocks than traditional beach lounging.

Boating & Anchoring

Anchoring is not recommended directly off Cala Blanca due to the presence of sandbanks and uneven seabed, which make navigation and anchorage potentially hazardous. Boaters instead typically head to the nearby Club Nàutic Santa Ponça, just 0.2 nautical miles away, for safe mooring.

Access & Popularity

Access is easy by car via Santa Ponça, following signs toward the junction of Calle Ramon de Moncada and Huguet des Far, where stairs descend about 100 metres down to the beach. Free street parking is available nearby, and public transport stops approximately 100 metres from the access point. With its low occupancy and quieter atmosphere, Cala Blanca offers a peaceful retreat, primarily enjoyed by local residents and those seeking a less crowded seaside spot.
