A Quiet Cove Beneath the Cliffs

Also known as Cala Mosca or Cala Mosques, Cala Blava is a charming cove just south of s’Arenal. Despite some residential and hotel development, this intimate beach remains a peaceful haven. Low rocky shelves surround a small sandy beach, while the cliffs rise up to 25 metres, offering breathtaking views across the Bay of Palma. A dry torrent empties near the shore, where you’ll often see beached fishing boats resting beside the rocks.

A Local Favourite Near the City

Cala Blava's natural setting and close proximity to Palma make it especially popular with local residents. While not isolated, its relative lack of tourist crowds gives it a quiet, lived-in charm. A walk south along the coast from Cala Mosques reveals several other small coves, some sandy, some pebbly, that remain largely untouched by development.

Sheltered Waters, Limited Infrastructure

The sandy seabed, with depths ranging from three to four metres, makes the area suitable for small boats. However, there are no direct port facilities, with the nearest located at Club Nàutic s’Arenal, about 1.5 nautical miles away. Access is easy by car, though there is no dedicated parking by the coast and no nearby bus service, so planning ahead is essential.
