Intimate Setting & Calm Waters
Cala Comtessa (also known as Cala Comptessa) is the smallest cove among the three beaches collectively referred to as Illetes (alongside Es Fortí and Platja d'Illetes). This U-shaped, sheltered inlet is bordered by pine trees and low rocky outcrops, which are often used by visitors for sunbathing in addition to the main sandy beach.
Just offshore lies the small island Illot de Caleta, contributing to the cove’s tranquil atmosphere and clear, shallow waters.
Boating & Anchoring
Cala Comtessa offers excellent conditions for anchoring, with a sandy seabed mixed with seaweed, and depths ranging from 2 to 3 metres. However, navigators should avoid passing between Illot de sa Caleta and Illot de s’Estenedor, where dangerous sandbanks are present. The nearest full-service marina is Puerto Portals, just 1.3 nautical miles away—one of the premier marinas in the Balearics, known for its luxury yachts, fine dining, and vibrant nightlife.
Access & Popularity
Access by car is easy, with well-marked signs leading to a nearby free parking area. A stairway connects the parking area to the beach. Public transport also serves the area, with a bus stop located just 300 metres away. While located close to Palma and easily accessible, Cala Comtessa maintains a relaxed atmosphere, attracting locals and visitors looking for a peaceful spot with excellent swimming, full amenities, and beautiful coastal views.
