A Dramatic Cove Beneath the Formentor Peaks

Cala Figuera is a striking u-shaped inlet tucked beneath towering cliffs on the Cap de Formentor peninsula. On one side, steep limestone walls plunge dramatically toward the sea, while the other slopes more gently, lined with sandstone. Behind the beach rises es Fumat at 334 metres, completing the awe-inspiring backdrop. The beach itself is a blend of sand, pebbles, and drifted posidonia, with a torrent flowing into the sea, and two prominent rocks emerging just offshore.

Anchor With Caution – Wild, Open Waters

While anchoring is possible, it is not recommended if winds blow from the north or northeast, due to exposure and challenging underwater conditions. Depths range from 5 metres to 3 metres over a sandy and stony seabed. If you attempt to anchor, you should leave the two small islands to your port side for safety.

A Remote Descent to Natural Beauty

The final approach to Cala Figuera adds to its charm. After following the scenic Cap de Formentor road, you’ll need to descend 1.4km by foot on a rough, dusty track. A small platform serves as limited parking, but most visitors prefer to continue on foot to avoid the crowds. A set of stairs leads you down to the beach, revealing an uncrowded cove with extraordinary panoramic views over northern Mallorca’s wild coast.
