A Local Favourite with an Urban Feel
Cala Galiota is a small, coarse-sand beach nestled in the urban setting of Colònia de Sant Jordi. Favoured mostly by Mallorcan families and local residents, it offers a more laid-back and authentic experience compared to the larger, tourist-heavy beaches nearby. Though surrounded by low-rise apartments, the beach retains its charm thanks to the clear waters, modest size, and friendly atmosphere—except during the village’s lively summer festival, when the area comes alive with celebration.
Clear Waters and a Steep Coastal Drop
The beach is composed of ochre-toned sand and rocky patches, with a steep seabed—dropping to 2 metres within 50 m of the shore and 5 metres at 200 m. These conditions make Cala Galiota a good anchoring spot, although boats are advised to avoid visiting when the wind blows from the west. The sea floor features sand and seaweed, providing fair stability for light anchorage.
Easy Access and Great Local Dining
Just minutes from the heart of Colònia de Sant Jordi, access is simple by car, with free parking nearby and a bus stop within 200 metres. Restaurants line the promenade behind the beach, many specialising in seafood and fresh fish, making it an ideal stop for both beachgoers and food lovers alike.
