A Quiet Inlet with Rocky Charm

Cala Gamba is a small, sheltered bay known for its rocky shorelines and coarse grey sand, located just 9 kilometres from Palma. It's a favourite among locals who appreciate its natural, unspoilt feel and limited crowds. Though the sea here is shallow and the seabed is rocky with patches of vegetation, it offers a calm place to relax, particularly for those seeking an off-the-beaten-path escape.

Not Suitable for Boats, Ideal for Diving

Due to the shallow depth and rocky ground, anchoring is not advised directly in Cala Gamba. However, boats can anchor safely 400 metres south of Club Nàutic Cala Gamba where the water depth reaches 150 metres and is more sheltered from the winds. Diving and snorkelling are popular here thanks to the visibility and underwater terrain.

Es Carnatge & Sa Galera – History Meets Nature

Between Cala Gamba and Can Pastilla lies Es Carnatge, a protected coastal zone with a fascinating history as a 19th-century animal carcass processing area. Offshore lies Sa Galera, a small island believed to have housed a Punic trading settlement, one of the few of its kind in Mallorca. These features give Cala Gamba a unique blend of cultural significance and natural beauty.

⚠️ Beach Safety Note: Cala Gamba is exposed to strong winds and variable conditions. If a red flag is raised, do not swim. A yellow flag means swim with caution, and a green flag means it’s safe to swim. An orange flag indicates no lifeguard is present. Pets are not allowed on the beach due to municipal safety rules.
