A Hidden Jewel on the East Coast
Tucked away on Mallorca’s rugged eastern coastline, Cala Varques is a virgin beach surrounded by pine forests and low natural cliffs. The sea inlet splits into two quiet sandy coves, divided by rocky outcrops, with the eastern cove being the larger and more accessible. A nearby torrent, pine woods, and even a natural rock arch and cave add to its raw beauty.
Ideal for Boats, But Remote on Foot
While anchoring is excellent—with over 6 metres of depth just 200 metres from shore on clear sandy ground—the land access is challenging. A 15-minute walk over uneven trails, under pine canopies and beside the dry riverbed, makes this beach far less crowded than its neighbours. The nearest port is Port de Portocristo, 3.6 nautical miles away.
Wild, Natural, and Not Quite Secret
Despite its isolation, Cala Varques draws a loyal crowd of locals and adventurers who appreciate its unspoilt nature. Though nudism is officially prohibited, it's not uncommon here. There are no services, but that’s part of the appeal—Cala Varques is about escaping the crowds and embracing nature.
