A Hidden U-Shaped Inlet Below Bellavista

Tucked beneath the residential villages of Cala Blava and Bellavista, Caló Fort (also known as Caló de Can Mercadal) is a narrow sea inlet shaped like a ‘U’, formed by the mouth of a torrent. This secluded beach sits between Punta de ses Punxes and Calonet de s’Almadrava, surrounded by medium-high cliffs, rocky ledges, and patches of pine woodland. While mainly rocky, some sand has accumulated where the torrent meets the sea.

A Coastal Nook for Residents

Frequented mostly by local residents, Caló Fort remains largely undeveloped and low-key, offering a peaceful retreat for those in the nearby urbanisations. The cliffs and calm, rugged beauty are typical of this southern section of Mallorca’s coast, stretching from Cala Sant Antoni to sa Ràpita.

Limited Anchoring & Access Considerations

Anchoring is only advisable in calm weather, as this stretch of coast is exposed to wind and waves from the southwest to the north. Even boats with shallow draught struggle when conditions are rough. On calm days, anchoring is possible over visible sandy patches in front of the beach. The nearest port facilities are found at Club Nàutic s’Arenal. Access by car is possible, though parking is limited, and there are no significant tourist services, reinforcing the beach's quiet, local appeal.
