Scenic Setting & Natural Surroundings
Situated near the 150-hectare s'Albufereta de Pollença wetland, Can Cap de Bou offers a peaceful setting between land and sea. The beach runs alongside the road, which forms an artificial border between the coast and inland areas. This coastal strip is characterised by its extremely long but very narrow shape, shaped by strong north and northeast winds and the constant action of sea currents.
Beach Composition
The beach features a mix of greyish sand, pebbles, and occasional seaweed (posidonia) deposits. The gentle slope means that visitors often need to walk quite far into the water before it becomes deep enough to swim. This shallow shoreline, with its mix of sand, stones, seaweed, and mud, makes it popular with shoreline anglers (rod fishers).
Ideal for Windsurfing & Surfing
The strong winds that shape the coastline make Can Cap de Bou particularly popular with windsurfers and surfers. The consistent air currents and small waves provide excellent conditions for water sports enthusiasts seeking a bit of adventure.
Boating & Anchoring
An anchoring zone is available, though the nearest full port facilities are at Port de Pollença, located 2.4 nautical miles away.
Access & Popularity
Reaching the beach is easy by following the road signs from either Alcudia or Pollença. A free parking platform is available near Club Pollentia, and there is also a bus stop just 10 metres from the beach for those arriving by public transport. Despite its attractive setting, Can Cap de Bou remains relatively uncrowded, with most visitors being residents or guests from nearby Club Pollentia.
