Immersive Gateway to the Cabrera Archipelago
Bringing the National Park to Life
In the coastal village of Colònia de Sant Jordi, the visitor centre for the Cabrera Archipelago National Park offers an extraordinary way to experience one of the Balearic Islands’ most pristine natural reserves — without stepping on a boat. The building itself, inspired by ancient Talaiotic architecture, sets the tone for a journey that blends marine science, cultural history, and visual spectacle.
An Underwater Journey
The visit begins with a descent into the aquarium galleries, containing around 18 tanks holding nearly a million litres of water and over 200 species of marine life native to Cabrera. Lighting, sound, and design create the sensation of a deep dive beneath the waves, immersing visitors in the park’s vibrant underwater world.
Rising to the Surface
From the aquariums, a glass lift transports visitors “to the surface,” revealing panoramic views — and on clear days, a real glimpse of Cabrera Island itself. Exhibits continue with a spiral gallery narrating the Mediterranean’s cultural history, from prehistoric seafarers to modern conservation, complemented by striking murals and interactive displays.
Educational and Accessible
This is a year-round, all-weather attraction suitable for families, school groups, and nature lovers. Information is available in multiple languages, and the centre often hosts guided talks and activities linked to the national park. For those planning to visit Cabrera by boat, this is the perfect introduction; for others, it’s a complete experience in its own right.
