Claustro del Convent de Santo Domingo

Tucked just off Inca’s town centre, the Claustro del Convent de Santo Domingo is a peaceful and elegant Baroque cloister dating back to the 17th century. Once part of a Dominican monastery, it now serves as a cultural and civic space, offering visitors a tranquil glimpse into the town’s religious and architectural heritage.

A Baroque Gem in the Heart of Inca

Construction of the convent began in 1664, reflecting the Dominican order’s influence in Inca during that period. The cloister itself is beautifully proportioned, with a central courtyard framed by arched galleries and Tuscan columns. It’s a fine example of Mallorcan Baroque, and one of the best-preserved religious cloisters in the island’s interior.

Although the adjoining convent church no longer functions in a religious capacity, it remains architecturally impressive, especially when viewed from the cloister garden.

Cultural Events & Local Exhibitions

Today, the cloister is used by the Ajuntament d’Inca (Town Hall) for temporary exhibitions, concerts, book fairs, and official receptions. During the town’s major festivals — including Dijous Bo — the space often hosts cultural displays and public installations.

Visitors are welcome to stroll through the courtyard, admire the stonework and tranquillity, or attend scheduled events throughout the year.
