Sunset Shopping in Colònia de Sant Jordi
In the south of Mallorca, the lively seaside town of Colònia de Sant Jordi hosts a popular evening market every Tuesday from May to October. Set along the bustling Avinguda Primavera, this seasonal market is perfectly timed for a late-afternoon browse, blending the relaxed vibe of a coastal resort with the authenticity of a local gathering.
History & Setting
Colònia de Sant Jordi began as a small fishing village before developing into a resort known for its proximity to Es Trenc, one of Mallorca’s most famous beaches. The market reflects both sides of the town’s character—rooted in local produce and traditions, but also welcoming holidaymakers who flock here each summer.
Market Experience
From 15:30 until 22:30, the wide avenue fills with stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables, cheeses, charcuterie, bread, sweets, clothes, jewellery, leather goods, and souvenirs. The early evening start makes it comfortable to explore after a day at the beach, with the warm glow of sunset adding to the atmosphere. In July and August, an additional Saturday night market takes place in carrer del batle Andreu Burguera Mut and Plaça de Sant Bartomeu, extending the festive summer feel.
Visitor Information
The main market runs every Tuesday, 15:30–22:30, May through October, located on Avinguda Primavera. The Saturday night edition in July and August runs from 19:00–23:00 in a separate part of town. Parking can be tight in high season, but the central location makes it easy to reach on foot for those staying nearby.
