Cuevas del Drach

A world beneath the surface, the Cuevas del Drach (Dragon Caves) are one of Mallorca’s most famous and awe-inspiring natural attractions. Located near Porto Cristo in the municipality of Manacor, these vast underground chambers are known for their dramatic rock formations, shimmering lakes, and unforgettable boat concerts.

A Journey Through Time and Stone

Stretching over 1,200 metres, the Dragon Caves form a vast subterranean network that began taking shape over millions of years. Visitors follow a guided route through a series of chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and illuminated rock formations that resemble natural cathedrals. The caves’ temperature is a constant 21°C, making it a comfortable year-round destination.

The highlight of the tour is Lake Martel, one of the largest underground lakes in Europe. Measuring 170 metres long, the lake’s tranquil waters reflect the cave ceilings like a mirror, creating a surreal, otherworldly setting.

The Classical Concert Experience

At the end of each visit, guests gather around the edge of Lake Martel to enjoy a live classical music concert performed by musicians in boats. This unique tradition has been part of the experience for decades, combining music, natural acoustics, and subtle lighting for a magical finale. Afterward, guests can either walk around the lake or take a short boat ride across the water.

The entire visit lasts around one hour, with a set walking route and designated concert times throughout the day. Multilingual signage and optional audio guides enhance the experience for international visitors.

Visitor Facilities

Cuevas del Drach is a professionally run tourist site with excellent amenities, including a café, shop, picnic area, gardens, and accessible paths. It’s one of Mallorca’s most visited attractions—so booking tickets online in advance is highly recommended, especially in high season.
