Family-Friendly Waters by Historic Grounds

Nestled between Platja de Ciutat Jardí and Punta de sa Torre, El Peñón is a small sandy cove with fine-grained sand, gentle slope, and typically calm waters—ideal for families and young swimmers. The beach sits in front of Fortí Torre d'en Pau, a 19th-century military structure originally built to defend Palma Bay during the Spanish-American conflict. Today, the surrounding area has been transformed into a public park, offering a peaceful blend of history and nature.

Coastal Quarry Turned Dining Spot

To the east, a natural rocky breakwater shelters the beach near es Descarregador de Guix, once a gypsum quarry used during the 19th and 20th centuries. The quarry has since been repurposed into a seafront restaurant, maintaining the site’s rustic charm and offering a unique spot for refreshments with sea views.

Easy Access & Coastal Connection

El Peñón is easily accessible by car or bike, with free parking nearby and a cycling lane connecting it to the rest of the coastline. A short walk along the headland sa Paret Blanca connects the beach to Platja de Ciutat Jardí, allowing visitors to enjoy both coves. While anchoring is permitted, caution is advised due to shallow waters close to shore.
