A Secluded Spot Full of History
Es Freu de ses Covetes, known as “the strait of the little caves”, is a tiny u-shaped sea inlet tucked between Sa Ràpita and Es Trenc. Its name comes from the many natural caves that once belonged to a nearby rocky area, historically exploited as a quarry. Stones extracted here were used to build Palma’s Renaissance defence walls.
Although a small 50-metre stretch, it offers a peaceful alternative to the busier beaches nearby. This charming area became a summer colony in the late 19th century, and remains a tranquil escape even today.
Protected Natural Area & Healing Waters
The beach lies within the Àrea Natural Protegida between Es Trenc and Es Salobrar de Campos, preserving its unspoiled charm. Nearby is the thermal spring of Sant Joan de la Fontsanta, with 38°C waters long known for their healing properties since Roman times, particularly for dermatological and bone ailments.
Access & Amenities
Access is straightforward, with free parking available nearby, and a bus stop approximately 100 metres away. While the beach lacks major facilities, its peaceful atmosphere makes it a special spot for those seeking serenity.
