Església de Sant Felip Neri

Hidden away on a peaceful side street in Palma’s Old Town, the Oratori de Sant Felip Neri is a refined Baroque chapel dedicated to Saint Philip Neri, known for his joyful spirituality. This charming oratory remains active as a place of worship while also standing as an architectural gem from the 17th century.

History & Devotion

The oratory was founded by the Congregation of the Oratory, a religious order established in Rome in the 1500s and dedicated to pastoral care and music in liturgy. The Palma chapter built their church here in the late 1600s, creating an intimate space for prayer and community gatherings.

Over the years, the chapel has been carefully maintained, preserving its original Baroque character.

Architectural Details

The façade is understated yet elegant, with stone pilasters and a central doorway topped by a niche containing a statue of Saint Philip Neri. Inside, the oratory features a single nave with rich gilded altarpieces, painted ceilings, and religious artworks that reflect the spiritual warmth associated with its patron saint.

The high altar is a highlight, with intricate carvings and decorative flourishes that catch the light beautifully.

A Quiet Sanctuary in the City

While just steps from the busier parts of the Old Town, the Oratori de Sant Felip Neri offers a tranquil escape. Visitors are welcome to step inside during opening hours to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere and appreciate the craftsmanship.
