A Sheltered Cove with Golden Sand & Wartime Echoes
Tucked near the marina at s’Estanyol de Migjorn, Es Racó de s’Arena is a quiet, undeveloped sandy cove framed by low rocks and backed by Mediterranean vegetation. The beach is largely untouched, with fine golden sand, stretches of dry Posidonia meadows, and no tourist services. Wartime machine gun bunkers and old fishermen’s escars dot the landscape, offering a sense of the cove’s history.
Ideal for Anchoring in Tranquil Waters
Sheltered by Punta Plana and facing Islote de s'Estanyol, this beach provides safe anchorage with depths of around five metres over sandy seabeds. While the eastern part is more rugged, the western edge reveals soft sands, hinting at former dunes. Its calm and discreet location makes it a favourite among locals from s'Estanyol.
Remote Charm & Natural Heritage
Es Racó de s’Arena is accessible by foot or vehicle, though there’s no formal parking and no public transport reaches the beach directly. If you have the opportunity, consider visiting the nearby private estate of s’Estalella, now protected as an Área Natural de Especial Interés, which includes one of Mallorca’s 500-year-old watchtowers built to repel Moorish raiders.
