A Historic Beach Backed by Ancient Salt Lakes
Known variously as Estanys, Raconada de s'Estany, or Platja des Marquès, this beach sits on the edge of Campos and marks the beginning of the Ses Salines coastline. Behind the beach lies a dune system held in place by thistles, iris, and pines, surviving in harsh salty conditions. Inland, the Estanys (salt lakes)—believed to have been worked by the Romans—form part of a delicate wetland ecosystem and belong to the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès es Trenc–es Salobrar de Campos.
Ideal Conditions for Boating & Watersports
Els Estanys is considered one of the most sheltered anchorages on Mallorca’s southwest coast. The seabed is sandy with patches of seaweed and offers anchoring at depths of up to 3 metres. Unlike the less protected Peregons Petits or Platja des Trenc, this spot is safer for stopping by boat and supports a variety of watersport activities.
Facilities in Harmony with Nature
Despite its natural charm, Estanys offers excellent facilities—from showers and toilets to restaurants and rentals, all conveniently positioned without overwhelming the landscape. The beach is accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, and it remains popular but not overcrowded—especially attractive for families and low-key tourists looking to enjoy nature without sacrificing comfort.
