Jardins d’Alfàbia

Jardins d’Alfàbia – Moorish-Renaissance Oasis at the Foot of Serra de Tramuntana

Tucked into the foothills of the Serra de Tramuntana, Jardins d’Alfàbia offer a serene escape amid historic gardens, flowing water features, and architectural elegance. This former aristocratic estate blends Moorish irrigation, Baroque design, and tropical plantings—making it one of Mallorca’s most atmospheric heritage destinations.

Origins & Garden Design

Dating back to the Arab period, Alfàbia began as a functional irrigation estate, later evolving during the 17th–18th centuries into a refined garden complex. The water-driven pergola was rebuilt in the early 1700s and remains a signature feature, reflecting Moorish hydraulic mastery.

Highlights & Visitor Experience

Visitors wander through shaded terraces, citrus groves, bamboo groves, and a vaulted cistern. Look out for the “Jardinet de la Reina”, created during Queen Isabel II’s 1860 visit, and the lower garden’s palm-lined pond with dwarf endemic palms. Enjoy the onsite kiosk and bar—serving fresh orange or lemon juice under the trees.
