Mallorca Planetarium & Astronomical Observatory

Exploring the Universe in the Heart of Mallorca

Nestled in the peaceful rural landscape just outside Costitx, the Mallorca Planetarium (Observatori Astronòmic de Mallorca) is the only functioning astronomical centre in the Balearic Islands. It offers a unique combination of stargazing experiences, multimedia shows, and real-time observations from international telescopes—making it an inspiring destination for visitors of all ages.

Shows, Exhibits & Night-Time Observing

The facility features a 25-seat digital planetarium dome where visitors can enjoy immersive 3D shows about the cosmos, galaxies, black holes, and the evolution of the universe. Weather permitting, evening visits include live sky observation using telescopes on-site, supported by remote connections to observatories around the world. Exhibits throughout the centre present astronomical models, meteorites, and educational displays in multiple languages.

Ideal for Families & Science Lovers

This attraction is especially popular with families and students. Group bookings (such as school visits) can arrange custom tours with hands-on workshops and tailored science talks. Whether you're curious about the stars or simply looking for a memorable rural experience, the planetarium adds an unexpected spark of wonder to any trip through central Mallorca.
