Wetlands Alive With Wildlife at S’Albufera de Mallorca
Stretching across more than 1,600 hectares near Alcúdia, the Nature Park S’Albufera de Mallorca is the island’s largest and most important wetland. A paradise for birdwatchers and nature lovers, it offers a peaceful escape where reedbeds, lagoons and canals form one of the Mediterranean’s most biodiverse habitats.
A Birdwatcher’s Paradise
Over 300 species of birds have been recorded here, from elegant herons and egrets to flamingos, ospreys and marsh harriers. Observation hides and raised walkways allow visitors to get close to the wildlife without disturbing the delicate ecosystem. The park is also home to native fish, amphibians and rich plant life.
Trails and Visitor Experience
Marked footpaths and cycle routes make the reserve easy to explore. There are four main walking itineraries ranging from short loops to half-day treks, taking in canals, meadows, and forested dunes. An interpretation centre near the main entrance provides maps, field guides and information to help you get the most from your visit.
