A Legendary Stretch of Sun, Sea & Tourism
Platja de Palma is Palma’s largest and most iconic beach, spanning an impressive 4.6 kilometres along the island’s southern coast. It encompasses Cala Estància, Can Pastilla, and s'Arenal, unified under one name since the days of the Mar de Mallorca society. With fine golden sand, a gentle slope, and waters ideal for swimming, it’s a family-friendly beach despite its size and popularity.
Purpose-Built for Sunseekers
This is Mallorca’s most developed coastal strip, lined with one of the highest concentrations of hotels in the Mediterranean. Since the 1960s, Platja de Palma has been the symbol of package tourism on the island. Following its regeneration in the 1980s (with over 400,000 tons of sand added), the area was transformed again in the late 20th century with palm-lined promenades and traffic restrictions, adding modern appeal to a classic destination.
Easy Access, Busy Atmosphere
The beach is easily accessible by car and especially by public transport, with bus stops just 50 metres away. Although there is no direct beach parking, the extensive promenade is perfect for walking, cycling, or rollerblading. The beach does get extremely crowded during peak season, but that’s part of the experience—it’s the epicentre of Mallorca’s beach culture.
Anchoring & Nearby Port
The nearest port facilities are at Club Nàutic s’Arenal, 2.5 nautical miles west. While anchoring is not a primary focus here due to the intense beach activity, it’s a viable option in calmer conditions further offshore.
