Popular Resort Setting & Historical Background

Platja de Palmanova, also known as Cala Blanca, is one of the three main beaches of Palmanova, along with Son Maties and Es Carregador. Built on the former estate of Ses Planes, this area became Calvià’s first planned residential and tourist zone when construction began in 1934.

Today, Palmanova is a lively resort town packed with hotels, apartments, nightclubs, restaurants, and a full range of tourist services, attracting both international visitors and local residents throughout the year.

Beach Characteristics

The beach features fine white sand, artificially replenished to maintain its wide shoreline. Its gentle slope, calm waters, and broad open spaces make it particularly family-friendly. Seasonal sea currents can slightly reshape the shoreline but generally preserve its spacious layout.

Boating & Anchoring

Anchoring is possible directly off the beach, particularly near Punta Nadala, where a sandy seabed with depths of 3 to 5 metres provides good conditions, especially when winds blow from the northeast and east. Full marina services are available at Club Nàutic Santa Ponça, located just half a nautical mile away.

Access & Popularity

The beach is very easily accessible by car, with well-marked routes and free parking available in the surrounding streets. Public transport also connects Palmanova conveniently with nearby towns. Thanks to its extensive facilities, Blue Flag status, central location, and relaxed atmosphere, Platja de Palmanova is one of the most popular beaches in Calvià, particularly suited for families, groups, and beachgoers seeking a full-service resort environment.
