Secluded Setting Amidst Dense Pine Forest

Platja de Portals Vells III, also known as Platja del Rei, is one of the smallest and most peaceful beaches within the larger Cala Portals Vells inlet, which also includes Sa Caleta and Sa Platgeta. Surrounded by a thick pine forest that nearly touches the water’s edge, this small cove offers an especially calm and intimate atmosphere.

The beach itself features fine-grained white sand, with crystal-clear shallow waters that are perfect for a relaxing swim. The left side of the beach remains sandy, while the right transitions to rocky areas with a gentle slope, where the water remains shallow even at some distance from shore.

Boating & Anchoring

Anchoring is good in front of the beach, particularly near the headland between El Rei and El Mago, where a sandy seabed mixed with seaweed provides stable anchorage. Depths range from 4 to 5 metres, and the area is sheltered from the east and southeast winds. The nearby Club Nàutic Portals Vells provides additional boating facilities. Close to the marina stands the Torre des Moro, a 16th-century defence tower built in 1580, adding historical charm to the coastal backdrop.

Access & Popularity

Access by car is straightforward, following well-marked signs toward Portals Vells. Free parking is available nearby, followed by a short 200-metre walk down a coastal trail to reach the beach. Due to its small size, secluded feel, and limited accessibility, Platja del Rei remains largely uncrowded, attracting mainly local visitors and those seeking a quiet, natural escape away from the busier resort beaches.
