Historical Setting & Scenic Surroundings

Platja de Sant Elm, also known as Es Geperut, is the largest beach in the Andratx area and a major tourist destination that manages to avoid mass tourism. The beach is divided into two sections — one with fine white sand and the other with gravel. Offshore lies Es Pantaleu, the small island where the conquest of Mallorca began in 1229 under King Jaume I of Catalonia and Aragon. Further out, the famous Illa de sa Dragonera adds to the stunning scenery.

Beach Atmosphere & Facilities

The beach offers calm, crystal-clear waters, ideal for swimming and family relaxation. Despite its popularity, it maintains a pleasant, welcoming vibe. Full facilities are available, including showers, toilets, first aid, rubbish bins, restaurants, and various watersports options. Disabled access is provided, and the beach proudly holds the Blue Flag, reflecting its high environmental and safety standards.

Boating & Anchoring

The bay serves as the last safe anchorage between Andratx and Sóller, protected by Es Pantaleu. Anchoring options include:

  • Between the island and the coast (northwest of the wharf), with depths of 2 metres, where many small boats tie to buoys alongside the access channel used by passenger launches.

  • Between Es Pantaleu and the beach, toward the southeast, with sandy seabed depths between 4 and 7 metres.

The nearest marina is at Port d’Andratx, approximately 3.6 nautical miles away.

Access & Popularity

Reaching the beach is simple, with clear signs leading to paid parking nearby. Public transport is also available, with a bus stop located just 10 metres from the beach. Due to its stunning setting and excellent facilities, Platja de Sant Elm is frequently busy with both locals and tourists, particularly during peak season.
