A Tale of Two Beaches: Gran & Petit

Platja de s’Arenal is split into two distinct sections—s’Arenal Gran and s’Arenal Petit—both situated opposite the harbour of Port de Portocolom. S’Arenal Gran is shaded by tamarisk trees and favoured by locals from Felanitx, particularly those seeking refuge from the busier Cala d’en Marçal. Meanwhile, s’Arenal Petit, nestled within a dense pine grove, is quieter, smaller, and more secluded, with fine, clear sand and tranquil waters.

Calm Waters & Boater Appeal

The anchoring conditions are excellent, especially at s’Arenal Gran, where the sea is sheltered from northerly and easterly winds. Boats can safely anchor 200 metres from shore on a sandy seabed at around 4 metres depth. The protected position and gentle bay make both coves popular among boaters, particularly during the warmer months.

Easy Access with Early-Bird Parking

Getting to either beach is straightforward by car, though parking is limited—especially shaded spots near s’Arenal Petit. At s’Arenal Gran, a free open-air car park is available, with wide stairs leading directly to the beach. Bus access is less convenient, with the nearest stop 2.5 kilometres away, so arriving early by car is your best bet.
