A Blend of Urban and Natural Coastline

Nestled right beside the lively Palmanova resort, Platja de Son Caliu offers a quieter alternative while still being very accessible. The beach is long and narrow, featuring golden sand with occasional remnants of posidonia. Its coastline is split into two distinct zones:

  • The urban section, where facilities and buildings come close to the water’s edge, and

  • A wilder, more natural area, where visitors can enjoy a more authentic coastal feel.

Despite its more peaceful atmosphere compared to nearby beaches, it remains popular with both tourists and locals, especially during peak season.

Anchoring & Water Conditions

While the beach is exposed to winds from the southeast and south, small boats may still find anchoring spots on a sandy seabed mixed with seaweed, with depths ranging from three to five metres. Larger boats should approach with caution. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Santa Ponça, only 0.8 nautical miles away.

Easy Access & Amenities

Access to Platja de Son Caliu is simple: follow the road signs to Palmanova, then take calle Miguel Machado leading to Avenida Son Caliu, right next to the beach. There’s free street parking, and public transport stops conveniently in nearby Palmanova. Despite its modest size, the beach offers a full range of facilities including rentals, showers, toilets, lifeguard services and beachfront restaurants, making it a comfortable spot for a day by the sea.
