A Local Retreat in a Former Fishing District

Tucked just outside central Palma, Platja des Portitxolet offers a tranquil contrast to the busier city beaches. Set in the restored neighbourhood of es Molinar, this small beach is framed by traditional low-rise homes, a cycling path, and the relaxed atmosphere of a former fishing suburb turned residential gem. Its shoreline is a blend of sand, gravel, and pebbles, while the sea bed remains mostly sandy.

Not Ideal for Boats, But Great for Walks

While this beach doesn’t offer the best conditions for anchoring—due to emerging rock blocks just metres offshore and exposure to winds from the southeast to southwest—its charm lies in its quiet, local appeal. It’s a favourite spot for residents to stroll or relax away from the tourist crowds, and its location along the Paseo Marítimo makes it ideal for walking or cycling towards Ciutat Jardí.

Limited Parking, Great Food Nearby

Parking is limited, with only a small free area and the remainder being pay-parking (ORA). Public transport is a better option, with the nearest bus stop just 300 metres away. One of the biggest draws of Portitxolet is its surrounding restaurant scene, which combines traditional Mallorcan dishes with modern Mediterranean cuisine, making it a fantastic spot for a beachside meal.
