Resort Setting & Modern Transformation

Platja Palmira, also known as Peguera Palmira or Platja des Pouet, is the largest of Peguera’s three beaches, alongside Peguera Torà and La Romana. The area’s name originates from Peguera, referring to pine resin extraction ovens once located here, while Palmira comes from a single house that stood here at the turn of the 20th century.

Originally part of a natural dune system, the beach was heavily modified through artificial regeneration. Two former breakwaters were removed and large amounts of fine white sand were introduced, creating today’s expansive, flat shoreline ideal for sunbathing and swimming.

Beach Characteristics

A palm-lined promenade now separates the beach from surrounding hotels, restaurants, and residential buildings, creating a vibrant urban resort atmosphere that caters to mass tourism. The wide sandy beach and calm waters make it especially popular with families and groups during the high season.

Boating & Anchoring

Anchoring is permitted in front of the beach, particularly recommended when winds blow from the southeast, south, or southwest. The seabed consists of sand with depths ranging from 3 to 5 metres. The nearest marina is Club Nàutic Santa Ponça, located 2.1 nautical miles away.

Access & Popularity

Access is very easy, with clear signage leading directly to Avenida Peguera, the main street that runs down to the beach. Free parking is available in the nearby streets, and public transport serves the area with bus stops conveniently located within walking distance. Thanks to its central location, full amenities, Blue Flag certification, and extensive tourist facilities, Platja Palmira remains one of Peguera’s busiest and most popular beaches, particularly suited for holidaymakers seeking a full-service beach experience.
