Film Location Turned Nudist Beach
Portals Vells II, better known as Platja del Mago, enjoys a famous reputation thanks to the 1967 film The Magus, starring Anthony Quinn and Michael Caine, which was filmed here. Originally intended to be shot in Greece, political unrest led to its relocation to this peaceful corner of Calvià. Even today, traces of the film set remain visible along the beach.
Beyond its cinematic past, El Mago is best known as Calvià’s first official nudist beach. Its fine white sand, clear, calm waters, and secluded feel make it a favourite among those seeking a more private and natural beach experience, away from the larger crowds.
Boating & Anchoring
Anchoring conditions are excellent, with a sandy seabed dotted with seaweed and depths of 4 to 5 metres. The beach is protected from winds coming from the east and southeast, providing a safe and calm spot for boats. The nearby Club Nàutic Portals Vells offers additional marina services.
Access & Popularity
Getting to Platja del Mago is easy, with clear signage and free parking available nearby. Though close to the resort of Magaluf, its nudist status and peaceful setting keep visitor numbers low, drawing mainly locals and those looking for a more tranquil atmosphere.
