A Stunning Beach Reached Through a Cliffside Tunnel

Sa Calobra is one of Mallorca’s most iconic beach settings, reached via a pedestrian tunnel carved through towering cliffs. Emerging from the tunnel, visitors are greeted by the breathtaking mouth of the Torrent de Pareis, a majestic natural gorge known for its excellent acoustics and annual choir concerts. The backdrop of Puig Major—the island’s highest mountain—adds to the location’s awe-inspiring beauty.

Unforgettable Journeys by Land or Sea

The beach is accessible by boat or by road, though the latter is not for the faint-hearted. The famous 14-kilometre drive includes dramatic switchbacks, twelve 180-degree bends, and one infamous 360-degree curve, known as the Nus de sa Corbata (“knot of the tie”). With a descent of nearly 900 metres, this scenic route is as much a part of the experience as the beach itself.

Limited Anchorage but Popular with Visitors

Despite its beauty, anchoring here is risky due to strong winds from the northwest to northeast. There are three marked anchoring areas—southwest, central (in front of the torrent mouth), and north—each with varying depths and mixed seabeds of sand, gravel, and rock. The nearest port is Port de Sóller, 7.2 nautical miles away. Sa Calobra remains a favourite for tourists arriving by boat trips or navigating the winding mountain road.
