Rugged Setting & Unique Conditions
Sa Font Celada sits at the point where the Torrent des Castellot flows into the sea, creating a fine-grained golden sandy beach that extends 150 metres inland. The presence of freshwater sources from the torrent leads to slightly cooler sea temperatures, a distinct feature noted by the few visitors who reach this remote cove.
The beach is surrounded by a rugged, rocky coastline and features only sparse bush vegetation, giving the area a strikingly desert-like appearance. The entire coastal stretch is fully exposed to winds from the northwest, north, and northeast, further enhancing its wild, isolated character.
Boating & Anchoring
Anchoring is possible over a sandy seabed that stretches far out to sea, with depths reaching 5 metres at 300 metres offshore. However, navigators must exercise caution, particularly near Es Faralló d'Aubarca, located 0.4 nautical miles offshore between Cap des Freu and Cap de Ferrutx—a zone known for both challenging navigation and excellent diving. The nearest port facilities are at Club Nàutic de Cala Ratjada, approximately 13.4 nautical miles away.
Access & Popularity
Reaching Sa Font Celada by car is complicated, as it requires crossing private fincas. The recommended approach is by foot, following a coastal trail between Cala Estreta and Cala Matzoc, which takes around five kilometres. Due to its difficult access and remote location, Sa Font Celada remains extremely quiet and rarely visited, appealing mainly to hikers, locals, and adventurous nature lovers seeking total seclusion.
