Sa Foradada Viewpoint
One of Mallorca’s Most Photographed Views
Located just outside Deià along the cliff-hugging MA-10 road, Sa Foradada is a striking rocky peninsula with a large natural hole (“foradada” means “pierced” in Catalan). This unique geological formation juts out into the Mediterranean and is visible from a spectacular clifftop viewpoint just behind the historic Son Marroig estate. It’s a favourite sunset spot for locals and visitors alike, offering unforgettable panoramic views across sea and sky.
A Short Scenic Walk or Longer Hike
From the viewing terrace, you can simply enjoy the photo-worthy scenery — or embark on a 3km (approx. 45–60 minute) round-trip hike down a winding trail to the rocky outcrop itself. Along the way you’ll pass ancient olive groves and traditional dry-stone terraces. At the bottom, some visitors swim from the rocks or enjoy drinks and simple food at a rustic seasonal chiringuito (beach shack) near the water’s edge.
While the descent is moderate, the return hike uphill can be demanding in summer heat, so good footwear and water are recommended. Alternatively, just enjoy the view from above, particularly in the golden hour before sunset.
A Must-See for Nature Lovers & Photographers
Whether you hike to the tip or just savour the views from above, Sa Foradada is one of Mallorca’s most iconic sights. Artists, writers, and landscape photographers have long been drawn to this dramatic coastal corner — and many consider it one of the best sunset spots on the island.
