S’Albufereta Nature Reserve

S’Albufereta Nature Reserve

A Small Wetland with Big Biodiversity at S’Albufereta

North of Alcúdia and Pollensa lies the S’Albufereta Nature Reserve, a compact wetland of lagoons, reedbeds and meadows that punches above its size in ecological importance. Though smaller than its neighbour S’Albufera, it is a peaceful haven for wildlife and a rewarding stop for birdwatchers.

A Haven for Birds and Plants

The reserve is home to more than 200 bird species, including stilts, ospreys, egrets and marsh harriers. Botanically, it is also significant, with rare plants adapted to the salty, marshy environment. Its quiet paths and observation points make it easy to enjoy the reserve without crowds.

Walking and Exploring

Marked trails and cycle-friendly routes allow visitors to explore the wetlands at a relaxed pace. The flat terrain and open landscapes make it accessible to families and casual walkers, while keen birdwatchers can spend hours observing from hides and viewpoints.

When & Where

S’Albufereta lies on the Bay of Pollença, between Alcúdia and Port de Pollença. It is open year-round, with the best birdwatching in spring and autumn when migratory species pass through. Entry is free, and access points are signposted along the coast road.

Why Visit?

Though less known than other parks, S’Albufereta is a gem for nature lovers who prefer a quieter experience. Its mix of wetlands, coastal views and abundant birdlife make it a wonderful place to reconnect with Mallorca’s natural side.
