Sant Antoni de la Pobla d’Uialfàs

Centuries of Faith in the Heart of Sa Pobla

A Landmark Steeped in Tradition

Dominating the Plaça Major, the Parish Church of Sant Antoni Abat is both a spiritual and architectural anchor for Sa Pobla. Founded in 1357, the church has stood through centuries of change, serving as the heart of local religious life. Its patron saint, Sant Antoni, is deeply celebrated in the town, especially during the vibrant January festivities when bonfires, music, and parades take over the streets.

Architecture and Artistic Detail

The church’s stone façade is a fine example of traditional Mallorcan ecclesiastical architecture, combining Gothic elements with later Baroque touches. Inside, a spacious nave leads to an ornate altar dedicated to Saint Anthony Abbot, protector of animals. Side chapels house religious artworks and statues, while the soft light filtering through stained glass adds to the calm, reverent atmosphere.

A Living Part of the Community

More than just a historic monument, the church is a lively focal point for the people of Sa Pobla. It hosts regular services, weddings, and feast day celebrations, with the Beneïdes — the blessing of animals — being one of the most charming annual traditions.

Visiting the Parish Church

Situated right in the town centre, the church is easy to visit while exploring the square’s cafés and shops. Entry is free, though visitors are encouraged to be respectful during mass times. For the most memorable experience, time your visit to coincide with the Sant Antoni Festival in mid-January.
