A Virgin Shoreline Rich in History

Tucked away on the rugged Llevant Peninsula, S’Arenalet des Verger—also known as d’Aubarca—is one of Mallorca’s most remote and least visited beaches. It lies within the old possessió d’Aubarca, whose name derives from the Arabic al-Bascat, meaning “banks.” Overlooking the area stands the Torre des Matzoc, a 1751 watchtower perched 67 metres above sea level, offering a reminder of the region’s pirate-fighting past. The beach itself is wild and expansive, with fine white sand, a rocky central mound, and occasional sightings of marine turtles.

Good for Anchoring—With Caution

Despite its natural beauty, anchoring here is only recommended in calm conditions. The bay is open to northern winds—northwest to northeast—which can make navigation tricky. The seabed is sandy and shallow, but hazards include es Faralló de s’Aubarca, a rocky outcrop 0.4 nautical miles offshore, between Cap des Freu and Cap de Ferrutx. Mariners should take great care when approaching.

A True Adventure to Reach

Reaching S’Arenalet requires determination. The final 5.5 kilometres must be completed on foot or bicycle, as vehicle access is restricted due to private fincas and a closed barrier. The trail can be hot and exposed, so sun protection is essential. However, those who make the effort are rewarded with solitude, scenery, and a rare sense of discovery.
