A Beach with Archaeology and Natural Appeal
Named after a torrent, village, and the island’s only known megalithic tomb (1700 BC), Son Bauló forms part of the Àrea Natural d'Especial Interès de Son Real. This sandy beach lies just outside Can Picafort and blends prehistoric significance with urban convenience. The surrounding wetland, shaped by the torrent’s mouth, is a small but thriving ecosystem that attracts migratory birds, amphibians, and insect life.
Waters Shaped by Nature
Although sandy and shallow, Son Bauló is exposed to northeast winds and has underwater rocks along the cliff edges. Anchoring is possible with care on the sandy seabed with seaweed, at about five metres depth, 500m from the shore. Navigators should stay alert to local advice when approaching.
Family Access & Full Services
With nearby hotels, free parking, and a bus stop just 200m away, the beach is very accessible for families and tourists alike. Facilities include showers, toilets, lifeguards, and Blue Flag status, making this an ideal beach for sunbathing, nature walks, and seaside history.
