Airport - You've Got A Smiling Face

There was a time when it wasn't too bad at Palma Airport, departing that is. This was before they put in all the additional security. Not that the security itself is the problem. What is, is that the shops and bars have been affected. Before, prior to going "air-side", it was all very easy to figure out. There were three or so bars (which are still there) and then various shops, like the tabacos, the chemists, the newsagents etc, some of which are no longer there, or if they are, they are before you go through security. If you happen to go to the wrong entrance to security, you miss them entirely. Last two times I've gone through, it did not cross my mind to get a paper, and I went through the wrong entrance anyway. You cannot buy a newspaper air-side. How daft is that? There is also no chemist. Depending on which gate you are allocated to, there can also be an absence of much in the way of facilities, though they still do manage to have smoking areas in what has largely become a no-smoking edifice. Waiting for the Luton Easyjet last time around, there was this smoking room near to the gate. It has a door, but it stinks, and the whole area around it stinks.

Palma Airport is the third busiest in Spain. It has grown enormously, but its facilities are still not that brilliant. And next time, I shall remember to go left rather than right to the security check, because left is where the papers are, unless they've changed it, which they probably have. I know. Buy one before going.
